Alice in wonderland
I created this piece as part of the Australian Etsy DUST team challenge. Each month, the DUST team are having a themed sale. For March, the theme is 'Alice in Wonderland.' All items under this theme are on offer at a reduced price for the month only. Next month there will be a new theme and new sale. For more Alice in Wonderland items, search for 'dusteamsale03' on the Etsy site.
I am happy to say that a fellow DUST member included this piece in a wonderful treasury called, you guessed it, 'Alice in Wonderland!' She calls herself Maddo and owns a shop on Etsy called Maddabling. Check her out here

All things French
I'm happy to say that one of my prints "The Drawing Room" was featured in a
blogspot about French themed items. It was chosen by the owner of the Etsy shop
"French Revelation" who is actually having a massive shop sale to make way for
new stock.

A love of 50's vintage frocks
I'm so in love with 50's dresses, you know the ones, with the nipped in waist and the full skirt. They're so feminine and quite flattering. They emphasize your best bits and hide your bumpy bits! They create the illusion of shape and can make your waist look smaller with their beautiful proportions.
Looking at various dresses of that era, I tried to imagine where a young lady of the fifties might wear such dresses, what special event would be linked with that special dress in a girl's wardrobe. I'm sure most females of today reminisce when they look through their wardrobes. As a result, I've created a series of nostalgic artworks exploring the notion of time and memory in a young girl's life. View more works here

The Butterfly effect & a cat named Sooki
A couple of nights ago I saw an interesting movie called The Butterfly Effect. It was about a young man with the ability to go back in time and change certain events in his life, thus changing his future. He did this many times, and each time awoke to a new life. However, no matter how many times he tried to alter the future, he encountered new problems and hurt not only himself, but loved ones. In the end, he made the ultimate sacrifice and removed himself from existence, causing his mother to give birth to a stillborn. He realized this was the only way he could make life perfect for all those around him. Wow. How sad. The butterfly effect, an unusual concept.
Well the very next day, we had to have our dear cat euthanased. Sooki, aged 13, had a cancerous tumour on her nose, which, despite painkillers, was giving her grief. The light was fast disappearing from her eyes, and her quality of life was declining. More sadness. I didn't expect my reaction. Such a little, quiet cat had such a huge presence in our lives. Even though she slept most of the time towards the end, we were always conscious of her and her movements, her life force. Our routine revolved around hers. Now the house seems so much emptier without her. My husband says she was our butterfly effect. She came in to our lives, changed us, loved us, taught us life lessons and moved on. As with most pets, she truly lived in the moment. Her affection and spirit were enormous. We'll never forget her, she was one of a kind. May you rest in peace Sooki.
